Mother trip

THREE MAIN EXHIBITS France 98 - Football hooligans This exhibition targeted the riots and police clashes in Marseille,  France. English fans were disgraced in the media and gave a bad image of the UK, and in order to provoke comment mother created figurines of the fans armed with larger, crow bars and ice cream. The National Criminal intelligence agency claimed mother was trying to 'glorify violence' and Arena magazine called it a 'moment of genius.' Japan & South Korea world cup Full English Sushi 2002 The Japan and South Korea world cup games were at breakfast time in the UK. Mother came up with an appropriate morning reference for those watching, and thus created a sushi reimagined as a hot english breakfast. This was effective because it tackled the idea of the poor management of time an dhow little it appealed to fans in the UK and this made mother appeal to these fans. No Cluedo? 2002 Special edition of popular family board game, Cluedo, but the partic...

“New York terrorist asked: How do I find a job in Britain”

Image
This article is describing how the New York terrorist; Sayfullo Saipov” apparently asked a British tourists questions on life in Britain, and how he could acquire a job in the UK. It also describes President Trumps response to the incident, In a tweet Trump stated “Should get death penalty.” The article would appeal to people who have an interest in political current affairs as the incident links to subjects such as border control. It may also appeal to people who have a connection with the USA, and New York. This article is accessible through the online platform, although it is not one of the top stories. The physical paper has one mugshot of the killer. However it makes up for this lack of images with a much greater amount of written content. Unlike the online version the physical paper explores issues such as the perpetrators background, and past jobs. The article is much shorter but features two images of the Killer, and even a video interview of the British Touri...

What is the responsibility of Large Media Institutions for Young People?

What is the responsibility of Large Media Institutions for Young People? There are 2.3 billion social media users currently, a large proportion are young people. As there is so much content available on social media it is vital that young people are safeguarded, and there are restrictions on content that may have any effect on them. For example on large social media platforms such as Facebook there is the option to be able to flag certain content that offends people. This feature is also available on platforms such as youtube. Youtube also have an age restriction, if you are under 18 (date of birth is required when creating account) you are unable to view certain content. If videos contain any inappropriate content they are removed, and there is a team on platforms such as facebook which are constantly monitoring videos which are posted. Young people are an easier target for people to manipulate. For example as they are easier to radicalise it is vital that platforms look out ...

TASK EVALUATION QUESTIONS

What have you learnt while filming? I learnt how to create a shot list. This is important as it eases the struggle of filming, and makes it easier for a plan to be executed efficiently. I also learnt the benefits of using a separate phone to record the audio of a certain scene, it makes the diegetic sound so much clearer. We were told to clap our hands before the recording so later on while editing we will be able to link the separate audio to the shot, thus create a believable recording. What skills have you developed? I learnt how to use softwares such as ‘final cut pro’ to edit our shots and put together a credible movie.  We also practiced using ‘filmstro pro’ to enable us to add a soundtrack we thought best suited the scenes, we. We perfected our planning skills, as initially we rushed into filming and ended up with a poorly planned and executed piece. After replanning and re shooting our film was greatly improved and we learned that in order to end up with a good film...

Front page of the guardian’s main article is on the ‘Paradise papers’ and it is particularly highlighting the the queen's involvement, the headline is “Queen's cash invested in controversial retailer accused of exploiting the poor

1) The front page of the guardian’s main article is on the ‘Paradise papers’ and it is particularly highlighting the the queen's involvement, the headline is “Queen's cash invested in controversial retailer accused of exploiting the poor.” The front page also advertises stories about Justin Trudeau, who has also been accused of being named in the paradise papers. As well as this the front page advertises a story with the title “How silicon valley was funded by Russia.” The headline for the daily mail was “Queen dragged into 10 million offshore tax row.” This is a another use of sensational words, the word ‘dragged’ portrays the queen in a sympathetic manner and implies that she wasn't solely responsible for the incident. On this front page the amount of money mentioned, as 10 million. The blame is lowered as on the right of the picture an image of13 year old girl worth 5 million is shown, this somewhat plays down the intensity of the incident, and shows that 10 millio...
