TASK EVALUATION QUESTIONS
What have you learnt while filming?
I learnt how to create a shot list. This is important as it eases the struggle of filming, and makes it easier for a plan to be executed efficiently. I also learnt the benefits of using a separate phone to record the audio of a certain scene, it makes the diegetic sound so much clearer. We were told to clap our hands before the recording so later on while editing we will be able to link the separate audio to the shot, thus create a believable recording.
What skills have you developed?
I learnt how to use softwares such as ‘final cut pro’ to edit our shots and put together a credible movie. We also practiced using ‘filmstro pro’ to enable us to add a soundtrack we thought best suited the scenes, we. We perfected our planning skills, as initially we rushed into filming and ended up with a poorly planned and executed piece. After replanning and re shooting our film was greatly improved and we learned that in order to end up with a good film vast amounts of planning is necessary. For example initially our film consisted of a small amount of shots and they were all very basic, mostly consisting of medium shots. The final product has many more shots and a wider variety. This creates a much more entertaining and realistic film.
What feedback have you received?
Initially we received a lot of negative feedback as our film from our teachers as it was very rushed. We were encouraged to add more shots and use our phone to record the audio to make the diegetic sound in our film as clear as possible. After reshooting most of our film the feedback was more positive for example our classmates commented on the success of the music we used and how much it enhanced the film experience.
How would you improve your preliminary task?
If I had more time to work on my piece I would have used garageband to try and create my own soundtrack in order to make my film as original as possible. I would have liked to add a larger variety of shots, to create a more entertaining film. I would have loved to use an actual camera with a tripod instead of a handheld iphone. This would have greatly improved the quality of image as well as the quality and steadiness of my shots.
